If you like country living, a little more space and a historic feel, consider taking a closer look at Bedford. It’s become a favorite place for those who love the country but want to be close to the city.
Commute: Located about an hour’s commute to NYC, Bedford is home to 16,000 residents in 39 square miles. There are several Metro-North train stations, all of which offer similar commute times. Katonah, Bedford Hills and Mount Kisco. There is ample parking and commuter lot options as well. In addition, Bedford is situated near 684, Saw Mill and Route 22, offering several routes to lower Westchester County and Manhattan.
Character and Qualities: Bedford’s hamlets, Bedford Hills, Bedford Village, and Katonah, have a town park with swimming pools and tennis, a library, locally owned shops, a volunteer fire company, and, of course, its own special character. Bedford is a huge supporter of the arts with local venues for concerts, art museums and galleries, lectures by well known experts, house and garden tours, and activities. Below are some links to helpful websites and a slideshow that showcases some of my favorite things that Bedford has to offer.
Official Town of Bedford Website, Bedford Central School District, Bedford-Katonah Patch (online newspaper), Bedford Police Department, Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, Katonah Museum of Art, Bedford Historical Society, Caramoor, and John Jay Historical Site.
