From the Byram Hills High School
Congratulations to Byram Hills High School Science Olympiads for their strong showing in the recent Lower Hudson Valley competition! The Byram Hills students, coached by science teacher Evan Horowitz, competed against Westchester County and Rockland teams in events that included written exams; assembly and dissection of objects; and building and testing operational systems. The Byram Hills A Team placed second at the regional competition, held at the high school on Jan. 31, and now move on to the state competition in Syracuse on March 13-14. The Byram Hills B Team also finished strong, placing 12th out of 40 teams.
From the Byram Hills Education Foundation
Thanks to a very generous contribution from the Byram Hills Education Foundation, all sixth grade students will have access to a school district Chromebook for academic use during the school day, beginning on January 26th. During the week of January 20th, students will review the district’s Acceptable Use Policy for Technology (AUP) and be given a Chromebook Agreement to review and sign. Please review these items with your child and return the signed contract on January 26th. Students will have the option to personalize and protect their Dell Chromebook 11’s with cases that are available for purchase through the school store, or they may bring their own. Please see the attached flyer for additional information. We are excited for this pilot roll-out and look forward to seeing the power of technology in our students’ hands.
